PAN\u00a0Card Number and\u00a0Aadhaar Card Number are\u00a0two\u00a0numbers that each person residing in India is encouraged to register for and get. There are roughly around 29 crore PAN card holders and\u00a0more than 111 crore people\u00a0now\u00a0have an\u00a0Aadhaar number, covering more than 98 to 99% of the\u00a0Indian\u00a0adult population.<\/p>\n

We all know that the usage of PAN card is no longer limited to just your income tax return filing, it is now linked to your Bank account and hence almost every financial transaction routed through your bank can be traced.<\/p>\n

Also, PAN is a very important document that needs to be quoted \/ submitted while dealing with real-estate property transactions\u00a0(physical assets)<\/em>, financial investments like Mutual Funds or Stocks, investments in Gold\u00a0(beyond specified threshold limit)<\/em>, sale or purchase of motor vehicle(especially four wheeler)<\/em>, while executing banking transactions etc.,<\/p>\n

Whether we like it or not,\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Aadhaar\u00a0card has become the biggest and\u00a0most important\u00a0personal identification document, if it hasn\u2019t already.\u00a0Aadhaar\u00a0Card is one of the\u00a0most important\u00a0documents these days, which is being used in almost every aspect of our lives \u2013 be it opening a bank account, applying for an LPG subsidy or simply getting a new mobile number.<\/p>\n

Given the importance of these two unique numbers, we need to be very careful in using these numbers. With identity theft being rampant, if PAN and Aadhaar are not surrendered when someone is no more, it could lead to mis-use of the numbers.<\/p>\n

When & how to surrender PAN card?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

  1. You have more than one pan card<\/strong>\u00a0(0r)<\/li>\n
  2. The pan card holder is no more<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    For the first reason, if you are holding more than one pan card then the procedure to surrender the \u2018duplicate PAN card<\/strong>\u2018 is very easy. You can get this done through NSDL or through UTI. You can surrender duplicate PAN cards through online mode as well.<\/p>\n

    On the demise of the PAN card holder, a legal representative of the deceased person can surrender the PAN card through offline mode\u00a0(only)<\/em>. Below is the procedure ;<\/p>\n
